FAQ's

Q. Can we bring a pushchair?

A rugged push chair can be taken through most of the walk but where there are steps it will be necessary to carry it.

Q. I have a knee problem. Are there many steps, can I rest on the way?

People with knee problems find they can do most of the walk. There are 2 parts of the walk where there are a lot of steps which they can avoid.

Q. Can we do the walk on our own?

No, unfortunately this is not possible. We only offer a guided walk option.

We recommend Man O War Vineyard, Passage Rock Vineyard and Poderi Crisci all located within 5>10km from Connells Bay. We recommend you check for opening hours as they do vary throughout the season.

Q. Can we picnic in the park?

Please enquire…email us at info@connellsbay.co.nz

Q. Can we take photos?

Yes, you are welcome to take photos, but only for personal use.

Q. How do I get to Connells Bay?

Fullers Passenger Ferry from Downtown Auckland to Matiatia Wharf on Waiheke Island, then hire a pre-booked rental car on the island or bring your car on the Sealink Vehicle Ferry. Click on About Us/Location to find details of rental car companies and instructions of how to get here. It is about a 30min drive from either ferry. We suggest you print off the map for your journey.

Q. Do I have to do the whole of the walk?

If you are joining a group you are welcome to do as much as you want to and then you could wander back to the gallery to enjoy the view and books until the rest of the group returns.

Q. Can I catch a bus from the ferry?

No, the buses only go to Onetangi which is only half way to Connells Bay.

Q. Can we come by boat? Is there a mooring there for us to use?

Yes, you are welcome to come by boat but unfortunately we do not have a spare mooring to use.

Q. Can I drive down the drive?

Q. How long is the walk?

On average the actual walk takes 2 hours so we recommend allowing 2.5 hours from pick up at our gate to return to our gate.

We offer a special student rate of $20 available on showing student ID.

Q. How big a group will you take?

We like to keep the group sizes to between 10 and 15 people with one guide so that everyone gets the most out of the experience.

Q. What is the cost for large groups?

Where one person is paying for 10 or more visitors, we offer a reduced rate of $25 per person.

We offer a special experience for educational groups. Please enquire for further information including details on discounts.

Q. Can we access the beach for a swim whilst visiting the sculpture park?

Unfortunately not. While there are views of the sea, there is no beach access as this is part of the private area for guests staying in the cottage. We encourage you to consider a stay in the cottage if you would like more time in the sculpture park.

Q. Can we have a look at the lovely old cottages?

The cottages are reserved for guests only, so out of respect, are not open to sculpture park visitors.

Q. Will the sculpture walk still go ahead if it is wet?

Unless there is very heavy rain, in which case we would cancel the walk, it is entirely up to the group as to whether they want to do the walk in the rain. If uncertain on the day we suggest you ring us on 09 372 8957.
