Collaborations with poets and architects have been a crucial component of his practice. His work is represented in all our major art museum collections and he has also completed prestigious public commissions throughout New Zealand. O'Connor has been the recipient of many significant awards, including the Frances Hodgkins Fellowship, the Moet & Chandon Art Fellowship in France and the Rathcoola Fellowship in Ireland.
