Julia Oram was born in Zimbabwe and immigrated to New Zealand in 1989. She has an MA from the Elam School of Fine Arts and lecture in Art and Design. Her early practice was based in painting , but today her work has a broad focus in multi-media, painting, sculpture, video and installation. Her work has been shown in national and international venues.
Oram's 'Bung' is a giant domestic plug full of irony and humour, while at the same time it is a metaphor for conserving water.
